On Saturday November 20, 2010 the Powerhouse Powerlifting Open, known as the "BLEDISBRO" because of its transtasman rivalry, is on once again at The Powerhouse Gym in Wellington, New Zealand featuring NZ's and Australia's very best powerlifters as well as novices, in both fully equipped, partially equipped and raw fashion (no lifting suits). I will be heading down and having a go at achieving an 800kg raw total in the 3-lift meet (squat, bench press and deadlift).

Apart from just using knee wraps in the squat due to a very dodgy old right quad/patella injury, I'll be lifting 100% raw (no suit, no weight belt, nothing but shorts and a tshirt. I'm hoping to raw bench 190-200kg, squat 280-300kg and deadlift what is required to achieve an 800kg total so may need 330-340kg if squat or bench fall short. Unfortunately for me I've retorn the right rhomboid for the 4th time in 18months. The 2nd time was end of September, just 3 weeks before Auckland's Strongest Man on October 16 and now again last weekend just 3 weeks from the BBro! Not the ideal buildup I was looking for but we will see what I can still do on the day and then there is only a week to New Zealand's Strongest Man (NZSM) contest at Three Kings Reserve, Mt Eden, Auckland on Saturday 27 November starting at 10am.
